Crawling is so annoying for Evan. He really does it out of necessity but not because it is his preferred method of travel. He'd really like to walk, but he is still a little too wobbly. He can't stand for his kneed to touch the hardwoods or tile so when the surface changes, so does his crawl. And, when you have all your appendages on the floor, you don't have any left to cary things. So, I guess he'll take hints from our dog Mollie and just make do!

Purple Power
Haley is totally into the color purple. Gigi bought her (at Haley's request) these crazy, sparkle purple flip flops. She wears them everywhere. We had to even buy purple clothes to go with the shoes. The lengths girls go to! To top off the outfit, she and Gigi painted their nails purple with sparkles to match. What a sight! The other pic was just because she finally let me put something in her hair other than just a clip.

So Big
Here is a quick little video of Evan's new trick:) How big is Evan, so big! And he is so big, crawling and cruising all over our house. I can't keep up. Yesterday he crawled on top of a picnic basket and stood on the lid while trying to pull himself onto the couch. Yikes.
T-ball

This summer Haley is participating in her first organized sport, t-ball. It is a hoot. A friend from church is coaching the White Sox and asked if Haley wanted to play. Even though she is the youngest and smallest kid on her team she has been a trooper. They stand out in the middle of the field and all tackle each other to catch any of the grounders that they've been waiting minutes to catch. They let everyone hit on base and there are no outs so it is fun for everyone. I don't think we could have picked a more confusing first sport, but Haley doesn't care.

Did you know that I love you?
A quick moment of sweetness I had to share. Yesterday, Haley's friend Hannah met us at the Roseberry's house to swim and after bathing the girl, Hannah was headed down the stairs with her mom to leave when Haley stuck her head between the slats in the stairs and yelled at the top of her lungs, "Did you know that I love you!" It was so cute to see her express her feelings for her friend.
Crazy Fun
We've had a crazy but fun weekend with friend from Lubbock and Jed's family from out of town. Jed's great aunt Nancy is here from New Hampshire as well as his sister Liz, home from college and sister Taye with her husband Tray and their kids Moses and Milan. Haley and Evan had a blast and are totally worn out. It was nearly impossible to get a picture of all four kids looking good at the same time but we sure had good laughs trying. Haley was singing songs to entertain everyone while we tried to get Milan to stop crying. Eventually, we ended the photo series with a picture of Milan spitting up, Haley elbowing everyone and Evan escaping. Whew. What a fun weekend.

Mother's Day
Happy late Mother's Day to all the great moms in my life. We had a nice but busy day and a wonderful surprise as Jed got to sit next to us during church. The first time in years:) What a great gift! Here are a couple pics of my favorite presents. Being a mother is the most crazy, wonderful adventure I've ever experienced and without God's daily grace, I can't even imagine the journey.

Super Busy Boy
Evan all of a sudden thinks he is mister big stuff. I was at the play area at the mall yesterday and I didn't feel Evan's little hands on my arm. I looked to my right and Evan was standing about six inches from me all by himself. I couldn't believe he was standing there by himself. He has continued to try to pull up on everything all day and is determined to walk. Urg. I wish he'd slow down. Where did my baby boy go? He's turning into an animated, sweet but busy boy.

Kitchen Makeover

Kitchen before (& Ev) Kitchen After
I know, this isn't something I usually blog about, but I thought you might be interested in seeing the infamous kitchen tile finished. In the spirit of family remodeling (my sister, my parents & jed's parents all have been remodeling their homes) we decided to make our white kitchen a little more up-to-date. We've actually had the tile since Christmas soon after we purchased this home and have been waiting for a time when Jed could be alone at the house and make lots of noise ripping out the old backsplash. When I was away at my parents, Jed got to work and his goal was to finish before I returned.
Once I returned, I was greeted by the new tile. It made all the colors in our house come together. It was beautiful. The only thing Jed had left to do was grout the tile. (The project would have been finished but when Jed ripped the old tile off, he realized he was going to have to replace the drywall. Well, since the drywall was gone, he might as well install under cabinet lighting.) Anyway, the next afternoon we started to grout. At the end of the process, we went back to wipe the grout away. Hmm, nothing was happening. Apparently, with slate tile, you have to seal the tile first, then wipe the grout off immediately before it dries. So, we had one huge cement backsplash.
All this to say, Jed ripped out the entire backsplash down to the studs and started completely over on Thursday and the new tiles look great. Yeah Jed!

This is why we do it
Sometimes in the midst of settling a fight over toys, you wonder why you thought it would be more fun to have more than one child. But, when you first really see the kids play by themselves with each other, you know it was all worth it. Looking forward to more good times together.
