Matt & Meagan's Wedding

Life has been busy for the Texas Roseberrys these days. We are wrapping up the school year, trying to sell our house to move closer to our church and just returned from a quick trip to San Antonio and Fredericksburg for my cousin's wedding.

I would have to say that this was one of the best short trips that we have ever taken. It gives me hope that we can travel AND have fun:) Everyone slept through the night in the hotel room, we didn't have any major drama and no one got sick. It was awesome!
We started our trip with a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch thanks to my sister and her family:) It was a super fun resort with water slides, lazy river and play areas. The kids LOVED the water slides and Haley was even brave enough to go down by herself. Wow. We ended our evening with s'mores by the fire pit. Perfect.
I had not been to Sea World since I was in fourth grade and we loved seeing the shows, playing and splashing at the water park. Haley's favorite, and mine, was the dolphin pool. We had a couple of dolphins that kept swimming up and stopping on the ledge near us so we could pet them. Evan however loved the shark tank. I am not sure why:) Shamu was awesome and her baby even came and performed along side her.
Then, we headed north to Fredericksburg so that we could be a part of my cousin Matt's wedding. It was beautiful and the kids did a great job as flower girl and ring bearer (even though during the rehearsal the night before Max and Evan were elbowing their way down the aisle fighting over who could stand near Haley. It was so funny but they worked it out before the big day. whew). The most precious moment of the wedding was when Haley was tired of sitting on my lap and asked to go sit on my grandmothers. She was on the front row and before we knew it all three great-grandkids were in her lap. Priceless! It was such a blessing to have the whole family together and enjoy a weekend away.

When the kids weren't practicing or in the wedding they just played and played and played...in the dirt, in house, in the car. Wherever and whenever they could play they did. It was so precious to see the cousins together. Max even got teary when it was time to hug and say goodbye. He said, "I don't want Evan and Haley to go". Such precious memories.
I can't believe I snapped this picture of Evan. He was either super fun, super goofy or super stinky during the trip. Unfortunately, he and his uncle Ronnie were quite the pair giving each other a hard time. Evan would stick out his tongue, which always got him in trouble and the two were constantly telling the other that they were going to cut their eyeballs out and stick them on their bottoms. What kind of crazy guy is my little Evan...he looks so sweet:)

Evan's World

Evan has hit the 100 questions stage in life where every sentence starts with, "Mommy, why"
or "Mommy, what" or "Mommy, how". Although it is so precious after the 30th "Mommy..." I start to find myself wondering what it would take to distract him or trick him into playing something that involves no talking. For a little guy who didn't talk for quite a while, he is sure making up for all his words now (I guess even when he wasn't talking he wasn't quiet so I am not sure what I expected).

Evan's mind also works in the most amazing ways. Ways that I can never quite understand or wrap my "girly" brain around. Maybe I should turn the tables around here and start asking all the questions. "Why do you have to involve some sort of potty talk into every sentence?" "Why must you always want to cut my eyeballs out?" "Have you ever seen that happen?" "Why must you talk about your privates and everyone else's?" "Do you ever just want to sit quietly and enjoy the car ride without any questions?" "Must you really try to karate chop me or could you just give me a high-five instead?"

"Oh, and where do you get all your sophisticated words?" When asking Evan about school he replies...."Sam (renamed to protect the innocent) is so weird Mommy." I ask why he is weird thinking he doesn't even know what weird means. Evan answers, "You know Mom...him is just so strange." Evan, you crack me up!

Evan's world is super fun and we can't imagine life without his funny sayings. In fact, what would I do all day if my social director son didn't pop out of bed, dress himself then come into my room at 6:45 and ask "where are we going and who are we playing with today". I better get busy!

Best Mother's Day Gift Ever

This year Jed's parents and Jed went in together and got the kids their first small trampoline for Mother's Day. I know what you are thinking...that doesn't sound like a mother's day gift it sounds like a Christmas gift.

But, the way I see it...it has already produced hours of whine free playing along with SUPER great sleeping. Thus, I am getting more time to myself and better sleep at night as well. So, rather than have flowers that wilt or a manicure that fades away, I have a gift that keeps on giving me free time throughout the year:)

Thanks for the awesome Mother's Day present and the hours of fun!

Love is in the Air

Just when I think springtime love is going to pass our house my six year old comes home from school with this.
Oh yes. It is from a little boy in her Kindergarten class who declared his love for my daughter. Really, it is adorable but do we have to fall in love already? I had reserved that whole drama for high school. I am still up in the night with a toddler, I haven't had time to think about "love" talks yet. Whew. They sure grow up fast:)

I guess Kindergarten love is one of the safest kinds of relationships we may experience. They don't really talk to each other. I asked her if they sit together or play together at recess and Haley answered, "no". So really, it is kinda like brotherly love. (Until I saw her throw her arms around him one day and I got a little nervous.)

We are full of love around here at the Roseberry house and I hope all those hugs and kisses at home don't start confusing Haley at school. Ha!

On another note, I think it is rubbing off onto our 3 year old...or maybe he is influencing his big sister. At church on Sunday he was feeling pretty sharp in his sports coat and plaid pants and could not get enough love from our sweet friend Nora. I was going to separate the two kissers and touchers on the front row but they were so cute I just couldn't do it. Sorry everyone who was sitting behind us and couldn't concentrate. It was too cute to miss!
