It is not often that the house is silent. With two small kids, there is usually a buzz around this place. My two don't walk from room to room, they run. This morning while I was helping Haley put on her most frilly Sunday dress which she picked out herself, the little guy wasn't anywhere to be found. Unfortunately, he was just around the corner where he had hopped up on a little piano bench which he ever so quietly pulled across the living room. Once upon the bench, he was able to reach the top of the entry table where there happened to be a pencil....Awesome original artwork all over our entry walls. Thankfully Dad has great art erasers and we were able to get rid of the morning's work.
Just when we think we had escaped the morning without damage, Jed hopped in the shower and I was finishing my make-up when Jed asked about Evan's whereabouts. Sending Haley on some recon work through the house she came running back insisting I "have to come see this Mom!". We ran around the corner and found Evan standing in the hallway COVERED in black ink. He had found a self inking stamp and had stamped it all over his face, hands and our hardwood floors. What a mess. We tried to take a picture but the memory card was in the computer and we were on our way to church so you'll just have to picture the scene. I had to admit that those self-inking stamps are pretty amazing. Evan had clearly spent quite some time with his fingers shoved up in it trying to figure out how it rotated around to make the stamp work.
The lesson for today....silence is dangerous. Move Fast!
