Spring Break Adventures

This was our first Spring Break and we decided to celebrate with a trip to see Bebe and Papa in Oklahoma. I know that sounds close to Texas but it was over 1200 miles round trip. This was my first time to drive the whole way by myself...how did I avoid that for so many years?
We left Friday after school then headed north to OKC to spend the weekend with my sister. We played, played and played some more in their great backyard. Then, we journeyed to the OKC Zoo, which was super fun:) The kids had a blast and once we had them completely exhausted we headed back to El Reno for one more night.
Other than Evan being entirely too excited to sleep in the afternoon or at night for that matter, we had a wonderful trip. My sister decided to bring Max and join us on the road for a trip to Guymon so we loaded up the car and headed west. We stopped in Amarillo to see my grandmother, which was one of the highlights of our trip. She is amazing and had such a fabulous time with all 3 great-grandkids. I am so thankful that the kids were able to spend time with her at her home. They played the piano (she taught piano and played at her church for years), colored all over her sidewalk and took a walk to the pond. We love our Nomy!
Then, we went north to Guymon and stayed there for the rest of the week. Nothing beats being at Bebe and Papa's (except maybe sleep:)...no this was better! The kids LOVED playing in their big backyard...especially spinning on the old fashioned merry-go-round that we've had for generations in our family. Mr. Ken took us horseback riding and Haley said she was "OVERJOYED" to ride all by herself. Time with friends, playing dress up, rides looking for wild turkey as well as trips to the park made this a wonderful visit. Bebe even pampered us moms a bit with manicures and pedicures. Whew. How did we squeeze it all into one week. (oh, and we can't forget this is where Haley lost her first tooth in a popsicle.)
We made great memories and had precious moments together (almost all the time...when I was sleeping well and the kids were sharing).
